The grand café is located right on the "Vrijthof" in the "Spaans Gouvernement", the oldest conserved residential building of Maastricht.
In the 18th & 19th century it was subject to a re-design by famous architect Mathias Soiron, creating a residence for the military governor. It is now the home of the new museum café.
This heritage background is typical for the ambiance of famous classics like Café de Flore in Paris. Original interiors not harmed by modern times, that now serve as a place for locals and tourists. In this case enjoying a piece of Maastricht history.
